NOVEMBER 17 • Beginner's Oil - Cold Wax Palette Knife Painting
Cold Wax is an oil paint medium which relies on a combination of beeswax and solvent to make traditional oils thicker and more malleable with a palette knife. While it allows for expressive brush strokes, it really shines when working with a palette knife. This characteristic makes cold wax a perfect beginner's medium, since it gives a clean break off of the brush or knife, retaining the sharp peaks of impasto, and the ability to carve into paint layers with palette knives which is a perfect way to explore texture and physicality of layers and color without worrying about brush technique. Join us and learn the basics and spend an evening working with cold wax, palette knife painting and come away with a new view on oil painting. Beginner's Oil on October 29 is a perfect introduction for this class (but not required).
