JUNE 15 • Chakra Art Studies: Blue - Indigo Sound waves for the Throat Chakra
Abstract Fiber meets Natural Dyes! The monthly examination of the chakras, using color association and exploration of multiple media! You will be weaving AND dyeing!
Chakras are energetic power centers that form an important part of our creative identities, and are accessible through many associations ranging from color, scent and even certain foods.Understanding and unlocking these points have powerful impact on our ability to feel, embody our power, speak, sing, dance and create. In this class, we’ll focus on “I Speak,” the Throat Chakra, Vishuddha, associated with our authenticity and ability to speak and express ourselves clearly and truthfully. Referred to as the “nectar of truth,” it's how we alchemize the lessons learned in the Heart Chakra (green) and communicate.
This is an important chakra when working with creative expression involving sound or word, like writers, singers, songwriters and sound weavers. It’s associated with the color blue, so we’re going to get Tangled up in Blue by weaving our own sound waves and distressing them with a dip in indigo. Watching the magical shift from green to blue as our indigo dyed forms “bloom” is a perfect metaphor for exploring clear voice and giving full expression to what we feel and want to communicate.
This is a dye class, so dress appropriately!
