Food is Art Camp: “Made from Scratch” at Dailys Catering

This a week-long camp held daily from Monday, July 29th through Friday, August 2nd, 9:00am to 12:00pm.

We are teaming up with Daily’s Catering for a week of cooking and creating! This camp is designed to introduce kids to the art of cooking and exploration of how natural pigments can be created from scratch with food and its waste!

Focusing on specific foods, we will dive into recipes and then use the remnants for creating our own paint and dye! Each day we will enjoy the fruits of our labor and use our paints to make a specific dyed or painted pieces to take home.

**Registrants should be open-minded, able to follow instructions, and be ready to use a chef knife.**

Location: The duration of the camp will be held off-site at Dailys Catering, 594 Main Street East Aurora, NY .

Ages: 9 - 14 years old

Materials: All supplies are included. It is not necessary to pack lunches as they will be eating what they make, but they are welcome to and should bring a water bottle.

Instructors: Karen Mayhew of Dailys Catering & Vanessa Frost of MUSEjar

The food at Dailys has been a staple in the East Aurora community since 1993. When owner Karen Mayhew first stepped out with her basket full of goodies to sell to the people of this village, she initiated a relationship that has continued to connect people through delicious food. Dailys offers so much more than private and corporate catering to the surrounding areas, and the range of services we offer has grown exponentially with the opening of our new shop in May 2015.

As a full-time artist and owner of MUSEjar, Vanessa finds inspiration and joy in teaching art. Art is a language that is often forgotten about and it's amazing what happens once it's tapped into. Her background is fine art and film production, with a degree from The University of Vermont. She loves mixed media and currently works mainly with acrylics, but she is constantly exploring and experimenting with all other mediums.

NOTE: All camps require a minimum number of students to run. Please sign up in advance to help avoid cancellation due to low registration. In the case of a cancellation, you will be notified prior and receive a full refund. Please read our summer camp policies.
