Natural Color Explorations

Registration for this camp is currently closed!

This camp is held daily from Wednesday, July 10th through Friday, July 12th, 12:30pm to 3:30pm.

Explore color as artists and scientists as we utilize natural items such as food and flowers to create custom dyed fabrics and more. Our focus is to allow children to investigate how plants can create natural pigment and patterns on natural fibers. Focusing on nature and how it provides us with organic art materials that can be made into many different mediums. We will be collecting, forging, playing with petals and getting messy with food as we create a one of a kind masterpiece.

Botanical dye materials include food scraps, herbs, and floral waste.

Please have student provide an all natural fiber (100% cotton, silk, linen) t-shirt to bundle dye on the first day of class. The item will have to be prepared in order to be used the following day.

Ages: 12 years and up

Materials: The registration fee for this camp includes all instruction, equipment use during camp, and materials for 3 days of sessions, where we will explore different techniques together and work on projects that you will take home with you at the end of the camp. Registration also includes a daily snack and a camp bag.

Each student will be responsible to provide a 100% cotton t-shirt on the first class to be mordanted and dyed on our second day.

Instructor: Nicole Vescio-Noblett of Svanur
