MUSEjar is located at 17 Elm Street East Aurora, NY 14052. The MUSE Loft is located at 21 Elm Street East Aurora, NY 14052.

+ Where do I park to access MUSEjar?

Parking is available alongside the mural on our building for customers and students. There is also public parking on both sides of Elm Street.

+ What are MUSEjar's hours?

MUSEjar retail is always open Tuesday through Friday, 10am-6pm and Saturday 10am-4pm, except on holidays and special circumstances. We do hold special events and classes on Sunday + Monday outside of shop hours.

+ Does The MUSE Loft have consistent hours? Can I just walk in?

+ Did you know that MUSEjar is an open air store? What does that mean?

Beautiful weather is nothing to be wasted. The moment we can, and mother nature agrees, we open our garage door to the world (spring to fall). Not only does it welcome people walking down Elm Street to stop in, but also leaves, squirrels, bees and the occasional bird. Some of our favorite visitors are dogs, always welcome, and highly encouraged!

+ Where is the MUSEjar mural?

There are so many ways people choose to express themselves. For us, the side of our building at 17 Elm Street in East Aurora, New York was the perfect canvas to let our personality shine. We wanted to create a destination for people to come, take a picture, and enjoy how color, shape, and art can make you feel. It also makes us super easy to find! + Is MUSEjar a studio space?

Yes, we are a retail shop and studio space. We host classes and workshops for all ages, levels, and interests, but you do not need to be an artist to enjoy our space. At the core, MUSEjar is about community, a place for people to feel comfortable to hang out for a while and find inspiration. At any given time, we are teaching private lessons, setting up for a workshop, and working with customers in the retail shop or here to talk! It is a lively space, welcoming all walks of life, including a few furry friends!

History

+ How long has MUSEjar been open?

It seems like just yesterday, but MUSEjar has been around for almost six years! Opened by our fearless leader Vanessa in 2013, MUSEjar has grown so much each year adding new and exciting classes, products, members of the team, and now a brand new sister space, the MUSE Loft. We are a Leo, and celebrate our birthday on the East Aurora Sidewalk Sale every July! You're invited, and yes, there will be ice cream! Keep an eye on our calendar for more details!

+ What was the space before it was MUSEjar?

Like any great building in a historic town, our spaces have lived full and exciting lives. Before we called MUSEjar and the MUSE Loft home, they were an Auto-body shop and Creamery. Each building still has original characteristics, but we have given them a second wind! The shop and studio used to be the auto body shop, and to this day, we still use the lights and doors from the “detailing/painting” room. We can also hang pretty much anything from our metal beam ceiling, like a car, if we really wanted too!

+ Are your spaces available for rent?

Glad you asked, yes they are! MUSEjar and the MUSE Loft are our pride and joy, and like any child we don’t pick favorites! Each one is perfect in their own way. Which one works for your event is up to you and based on what you are looking to achieve! We specialize in both children and adult events, birthday parties, showers, family events, team building workshops, photoshoots and more. You can simply use our space or we can plan a private class for you to go along with your event! We are available anytime between 10am-7:30pm, 7 days a week based on availability and class offerings. + When can I arrive to set up for my party?

As a renter, you may arrive no earlier than one half-hour prior to the start of the event and leave no later than one half-hour after the event. MUSEjar reserves the right to charge a fee for any additional time.

+ Can I decorate for my party?

You are welcome to drop off your decorations and/or refreshments during store hours the day before your party and we will take care of all the setup. (If your party is on a Monday, we will be here one half-hour prior to the start of the event for setup.) If you're not bringing your own decorations we will set up with ours.

+ Can I bring food?

You are welcome to bring your own food/snacks/cake/etc. or have your party catered.

+ What if I have to cancel my party?

A cancellation fee of 50% applies to all private parties. Any cancellations made within two weeks of the event are non-refundable. If an event needs to be rescheduled, the date is subject to availability. Refunds are granted solely at the discretion of the owner. In the event we have to cancel your event, we will work with you to reschedule. A full refund will be given if a rescheduled date is not available.

+ What if my guests exceed our contracted amount?

Additional charges will be applied for any additional guests outside of agreed upon headcount. Payment will be required at the beginning of the event. MUSEjar holds the right to decline additional guests based on the availability of supplies and ordering.

Classes

+ How do I purchase a seat in a class?

You can purchase a seat online through our website, over the phone, or in store. All MUSEjar classes require advance registration unless otherwise noted. It is strongly recommended to register in advance to avoid class cancellation based upon low attendance. Spots are only guaranteed once payment is finalized. Occasionally classes are canceled due to low registration. In the event of a class cancellation, registrants will be notified prior to the class date and a full refund will be issued.

+ What if I purchase a seat in a class but end up not being able to make it?

In the event you need to cancel a class, you must cancel a minimum of two days (48 Hours) prior to the class date in order to receive a refund or transfer credit. No refunds or transfers will be made on the day of the class or after the class has started or no show attendance for any reason. This is because our teachers purchase materials and plan for their classes based on the number of students registered. However, if you’d like to offer your seat in that class to a friend or family member, we’d be happy to let them take your seat. We ask that you please call us ahead of time or email us at classes@musejar.com by noon on the day of the class to let us know.

+ Can class credits be transferred toward another class?

A single class pass may be transferred for the use of another class only once in the case of an emergency, sickness, or extreme weather. Transfers must be made within one week of cancellation. If credit does not equal newly scheduled workshop price, the difference must be paid.

+ What are your cancellation and bad weather policies?

Occasionally classes are canceled due to low registration (minimum of five seats). In the event of a class cancellation, registrants will be notified prior to the class date and a full refund will be issued.

MUSEjar may cancel a class for extreme weather conditions (i.e. if there is a warning to avoid travel) or in the case of an emergency. We will try to reschedule the class within a week of the original class date and the same scheduled time as soon as we can. If you cannot make the rescheduled date we will refund you the price of your seat or honor a transfer toward another MUSEjar class. Transfers must be made within a week of the original class date.

Please note: In regards to our weather policy, we are located in Erie County in the town of East Aurora. While we understand and appreciate our students that travel from all over for our classes and shop, we do make cancellation decisions based on the weather where we are located. To do this, we look to our community closings.

+ What is your class discount policy?

Throughout the year we run promotions on classes and registration. These promotions are only valid for purchases during the time the promotion is running and cannot be applied after the fact. Discounts cannot be used in combination with other discounts.

Private Lessons

+ Do you offer private lessons?

Yes, we do! If the group classroom setting is not for you, or you would prefer a more one on one experience, private lessons are a great option! We offer lessons with experienced instructors on a weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly basis. Great for all ages, adult, teen, or child. We offer individualized as well as group options. + Can I purchase private lessons as a gift?

We may be biased, but we don’t think there is a better gift! A gift card is redeemable for lessons at MUSEjar. Even if we are on a waitlist, the gift card can be used toward the cost of the lesson, supplies in the store, or classes if interested in a group option. Gift cards can be purchased in-store or over the phone.

Getting Involved

+ How do I become an instructor at MUSEjar?

We love adding creatives to our class + workshop offerings and are always looking for new and exciting workshops. Click here if you are interested in learning about becoming an instructor with us!

+ How do I sell my local goods at MUSEjar?

As a seller in the shop, we offer both Wholesale and Consignment options. MUSEjar has a carefully curated retail space and encourages local, handmade, and unique items! Click here if you are interested in becoming part of our growing retail space!

Retail

+ Can I return something?

Of course, you can! You can return any unused, unopened art supply, damaged good or unwanted item to the store within 30 days of purchase. We require a valid receipt for the item to be presented at the time of the return. We offer either text or email receipt confirmations during transactions. If you decline the option for a receipt, we will not be able to return your item. Returns will be made in the same manner the customer has paid.

+ What if I don’t have a receipt?

Without a receipt to verify the type of payment, MUSEjar will not accept returns. If you have lost your receipt, but you paid with credit card, we can track your purchase with valid ID and credit card. We can not track cash payments without a receipt.

+ Can I make an exchange?

You can make exchanges for item/items equal to the value of the purchased product. A valid receipt must be present.

+ Can I use a MUSEjar gift card toward classes, private lessons, or space rentals?

Our gift card really is the gift that keeps on giving! Though there is no expiration date, we encourage the use within the year. They are eligible for the purchase of classes, private lesson, or retail items in our shop. To register for a class with a Gift Card, redemption must be made over the phone or in person, prior to class. Gift cards cannot be used towards space rental fees.

Occasionally MUSEjar hosts classes in the space with separate registration not handled through our website. Unfortunately MUSEjar Gift Cards are not valid toward those classes.

+ Can I special order supplies?

We pride ourselves on having a curated selection of art tools and supplies for the community. We carry items based on need and demand and unfortunately do not have all supplies found at larger box stores.

We appreciate you shopping small and will try to find and order supplies for you as needed. Contact us through the website, call us, or speak to us directly in store to set up an order. Payment is made at the time of the order and shipping usually takes about 2 weeks based on our ordering system!
