The best way to becoming a better photographer is to start looking at your everyday life with a little perspective! Once you start to see the ordinary for the extraordinary shapes that make up objects – small to huge – you can start to see them for aesthetic instead of function. In this class, you will take photos of the basic shapes of objects as they appear to create letters from the alphabet, and in turn, create a personal, meaningful work of word art that your family and friends will want to hang on THEIR wall!
In this photography class, we will be walking around town taking pictures as they relate to the class AND your personal word, and you will be given the opportunity to print out small (4x6 or 5X7 size) digital prints of your letters. These will be available 1-2 days after the class date (to accommodate the larger number of printing for all class participants). You also may choose to take the digital files the same day instead of printing.
Note: Students will need their own digital camera for this class.
Ages: 15 years and up
Materials: All supplies are included. Students will need their own digital camera for this class.
Instructor: Lisa Pimental
A newcomer to the WNY region, Lisa is a graduate of Photographic Arts from San Jose State University, and a Masters in Education, after which she went into teaching high school photography for over 10 years. Though she grew up a fine artist, in college is where Lisa discovered her love for all things image-making. While she enjoys any medium that allows her to explore creatively, Lisa holds a special connection with photography because with the right combination of technology and aesthetic, she believes that anyone CAN take a good photo!
