The Impressionists aimed to capture the momentary, sensory effect of a scene - the impression. We will explore color and brush technique to turn a landscape reference of your choosing into an impressionistic piece of art. What we see and what our brains understand are two different things. The cool thing about impressionism is that it’s more about what our eyes perceive. It’s about the moment and passage of time, how the light looks and even the emotional atmosphere. The art wasn’t meant to rely on realism.
Ages: 16 years and up - no experience necessary!
Materials: All supplies are included.
Instructor: Vanessa Frost
As a full time artist and owner of MUSEjar, Vanessa finds inspiration and joy in teaching art. Art is a language that is often forgotten about and it's amazing what happens once it's tapped into. Her background is fine art and film production, with a degree from The University of Vermont. She loves mixed media, and currently works mainly with acrylics, but she is constantly exploring and experimenting with all other mediums.
