This is a two-part workshop, Saturday January 26th & Monday January 28th.
All supplies including undyed bulky weight yarn, a big sexy hook, and a selection of pre-mixed acid dye stocks will be provided for students. This is a two-part workshop, where students will learn how to mix dyes, apply and streamset yarns, and mix your own custom OOAK colorway in the first class. For session two, they will bring their yarn back to the studio and learn how to wind the yarn into a “cake” for workshop two - learning to crochet! This will be a very basic pattern and something you can apply to many other projects.
Ages: 16 years and up - no experience necessary!
Materials: All supplies are included.
Instructor: Tami Selph of Blubird Studio & Vanessa Frost of MJ
Tami is a modern fiber artist, whose work merges traditional foundations with today’s textured techniques, and vibrant colorwork. She enjoys working with multiple fiber media, and is passionate about revitalizing and sparking new appreciation for the fiber arts through education, and inspiring and empowering a new generation of makers. She is known for Collaborweave, an interactive weaving project which encourages community participation and creative collaboration, and her work has received awards from NY Sheep and Wool.
As a full-time artist and owner of MUSEjar, Vanessa finds inspiration and joy in teaching art. Art is a language that is often forgotten about and it's amazing what happens once it's tapped into. Her background is fine art and film production, with a degree from The University of Vermont. She loves mixed media and currently works mainly with acrylics, but she is constantly exploring and experimenting with all other mediums.
