JUNE 4, JULY 16 + AUGUST 13 • Summer Drawing Series @ 42N: Charles Bargue Plates

Come further your drawing skills and have a little fun at the same time! Join MUSEjar in this creative collab with 42 North Brewing Co. - Summer Drawing Series: Charles Bargue Plates.

Often taught as a mode of refinement of observational skills within the practice of drawing, the Charles Bargue Drawing Course has been taught in art schools for a century. The "Bargue Plates" were created as a part of an intensive drawing course designed by draftsman, artist, and painter Charles Bargue. The plates are meant to be copied exactly. By creating master copies of these images, students learn various drawing techniques such as proportion, value, line, and other essential drawing skills.

Drawing takes lots of practice and the Bargue plates are a great way to work on beginner skills, or equally useful to a seasoned artist looking to hone or refresh their skills. MUSEjar will provide the printed 8.5x11 references (yours to keep!), rulers and skewers for measuring, and drawing boards (16x20). Please bring your drawing materials of choice (all welcome) and paper or sketchbook.

Although this class is not taught step-by-step, the instructor will provide detailed instructions and handouts, as well as a demo at the beginning of each class. The instructor will also be available to answer questions throughout the duration of the class.

Take one or all 3 sessions!
